This is interesting. I wonder what they’re talking about. Movies? TV shows? They can’t be talking about the future of digital entertainment. I don’t see any straws.

George Lucas Announces Two More Star Wars Movies
[Editor's note: Yeah, right.]
The internet has been lit afire with news of two more Star Wars movies in the pipe, as reported by media bog Slashfilm. As of this post, the story has been dugg 2,872 times, enough to make the front page of Digg. The story was originally reported by no less of an authority as Fox News, so forgive my skepticism.
Okay, so the internet wasn’t exactly lit afire, but let’s all take a deep breath here. The whole thing started with the Fox News entertainment report of a Time Magazine dinner with several celebrities in attendance. One such celebrity was George Lucas, who provided a few blurbs about Indy 4, observed that Spider Man 3 was “silly”, and then talked about Star Wars.
And here’s a little news: Lucas tells me he will make two more live-action films based in the “Star Wars” era.
“But they won’t have members of the Skywalker family as characters,” he said. “They will be other people of that milieu.”
The two extra films will also be made for TV and probably be an hour long each. But, like “Clone Wars,” Lucas doesn’t know where on TV they will land.
Wait a minute. We already know about live-action Star Wars on television, don’t we? This is clearly referencing work on the show’s pilot, which Lucas is undoubtedly very hands-on about. Hasn’t he mentioned he’s going to establish how the show will be done, and then leave it to other writers and directors to follow?
I think we’ve just witnessed the Star Wars as-yet-untitled show’s very first commercial.
